Where are you headed?

dead-end-sign-cul-de-sac-hopeless-163728.jpegAre you headed the wrong way in your health?

Do you know what is at the end of your road?

Are you worried that diabetes or a heart attack is waiting for you, but you really don’t know how to avoid it?

Trinity Direct Primary Care helps patients understand where they are going and change direction.  We have spent the last 25 years building the area’s premier medically based wellness program called VitalSigns.

Every week we start a new Vital Foundations class that can set you on the journey to better health by teaching you the basic principles needed to exercise safely and eat well.

Every month we offer a new Vital Launch class that takes a small group of patients through a 10 week program which has been proven to reverse disease, promote weight loss, reduce the burden of medications, and restore health and vitality to patients.

Why walk another day down the wrong road?  Contact Dr. McColl or Dr. Hone today to ask about Vital Launch.  Also you can stop by the VitalSigns Gym at 2531 Willow Point Way, Knoxville, TN 37931 to meet the staff and receive a one week free membership.

Article: Evidence surrounding the use of low carbohydrate, high fat diets for the prevention and treatment of CVD, type 2 diabetes, and obesity is accumulating.

Here’s a great article by Drs. Demasi, Lustiq, and Malhotra on the association concerning low carb high fat diets (like the one taught by Trinity and VitalSigns) and their ability to reverse (ie, cure) insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and obesity.  The purported risk of increased cardiovascular disease is shown to be not fully understood.

Clinically, I see dramatic improvements in the health of my patients when they adopt the low carb diet I teach.  They lose dramatic weight (my patient record is 200lbs) and reduce their dependency on medication.  Functionality and vitality return to their lives.  It is amazing to walk with patients through this process.

If you’d like to see what this program can do for you, contact us about the Direct Primary Care program where there is no charge for office visits, phone calls, or emails and most labs we need to manage your nutrition and health are included in the cost of membership.  Patients can join today with memberships starting at less than $1 per day!

Low carb health coaching proves successful for treating diabetes; lose weight and reduce medication

A recently published study utilizing an in person and remote health education and coaching platform showed that participants with Type 2 Diabetes were able to reduce medication usage, lose weight, and obtain better glycemic control through intensive dietary change.

This type of health coaching is similar to what Trinity has been utilizing for nearly 5 years with VitalSigns Launch and Launch Express.  We have recently added remote health coaching to enhance our patients’ ability to access good care.  If you’re interested in learning how you can improve your A1c, reduce medication, lose weight, and generally be free of the burden of diabetes then give us a call and come see just how health you can be.

Here the graph shows the breakdown A1c reductions across the A1c starting points.  The biggest reductions were seen in those starting with the highest average glucose.

Below the graph shows the relative change in medication usage based on the class of medication.  Ninety percent of patients on a sulfonylurea had that medication eliminated during the trial period.  Fifty-one percent of insulin uses required a lower dose during the trial period.

Weight loss was seen in most every patient.  Average weight loss over the 10 week trial was nearly 8% of body weight.

Prescription for health

VitalSigns Wellness is Trinity’s 24 hr fitness and wellness learning lab that we launched to give our patients and our community a place to put into action the exercise philosophy we promote that reverses chronic disease and restores functional health.

The VitalLaunch program is our nationally recognized flagship program that takes a small group of participants through a 10 week intensive education and exercise regimen.

We now offer Vital HIIT that has quickly become one of our most popular programs. It is a high intensity interval class that has shown to powerfully boost metabolism and produce big gains in fitness. Studies show that HIIT regimens can yield similar results as steady state cardio with only 1/3 the amount of time commitment. Come check out our program.
