The Fallacy of the Empty Calorie

David Ludwig, MD shares a short essay on nutritional theory based on calories, whether ‘full’ or ’empty’, is fundamentally flawed.  Consider stopping at the gas station because your car’s fuel gauge was at empty and filling the tank with 0W-20 motor oil.  Fundamentally, you’re filling up with the same dead dinosaurs as gasoline but your car needs the right fossil fuel in the right compartment.  Your body is infinitely more complex and requires the same nuanced approach to it’s fuel sources.  Use the right fuel for the right job.
